Sunday clean up!

Today I actually managed to finish ALL my swaps.
These prayer flags are a swap, as all my swaps, over at http://www.milliande.ning/
I have done all five almost alike, as they are going out to 5 different people. I chose the dragon-fly, incoorperated all the 5 prayer flag colours: Red-white-blue-yellow and green, and the words: Follow Your Hart.
The dragon-fly is a print of the plate I made at the Traquair Art Fair, at "Anna´s" stall, The Edinburgh Printmakers. Also tissue paper, fabric, beats, embrodery thread, ink and tulle.
This is for the "Owl´s" postcard swap. The photo dos´nt do this fellow justice. He is actually nice...well. no, he is a bit scarry. I don´t know where he flew in from...! But he ended up as something like a American Indian Totem bird, I think......
These two ATC´s are going out to New York, in the TREE ATC swap. And that was the last of the swaps. All the rest are already wrapped up and ready to be posted...ATC´s for the LAYRED SWAP, to Boulders Creek CA, match boxes to UK and USA, so now I can start a fresh!
First I cleared my desk, the floor, the other desk, emptied waste baskets, water jars, made nice piles of stuff...then I put some of my journals up and opended them, as the pages are really sticking together, with the high humidity. Not good! Went and got herbs from the garden, and voila, ready for the new week.

End of summer..

On my walk to day, I noticed that all the berries have taken on their autumn colours. The hedges between the fields and the sea, are a beautiful mix of dark yellows, oranges and reds, even purple. Sure sign that we are getting near the end of summer.
So much rain this summer. My normal path home has disappeared. But there were big huge frogs all around. Lucky for them, all our storks have moved to southern countries!
End of summer for the tourists/summer-house people as well. This will be the end of their season, until the october break.
Another sure sign, that autumn is knocking on our door, is the mice! Catching one a day right now, and that will only increase over the next few months! And why...??
Because of this giant monster! Yes, the farmers are bussy this sunday, no rain in two whole days, so they are out saving what they can. Flour prices will rise.......

This is RIGHT out side my front door...how many mouse steps is that, from field to living room? Not a lot!
And on that autumn note.....I made an apple cake. Picked, no not true, gathered from underneath the tree, as the storm blew a lot of last night, red apples.
And to go with the cake, a glass of mint tea. Thank you garden ;-)

First Apples - end of summer.

Todays sketch - first apples picked! That is a sure sign, that summer is on its way out and autumn is knockingt on the garden gate.....
Need to borrow neighbours juice maker......
The rest of the garden shows the same signs. Alle the herbs are flowering, and colours are now dark pinks and purples.
The one good thing about being on sick-leave, is that I can actually enjoy what is left in of the garden, in day light!

On a VERY rainy sunday....do ART.

Over at the Raw Sketch book Project, milliandes, the prompt right now is, Rooftops, Grid-sketching. Well....The only rooftop for miles around here, is mine! So I did varouis kitchen utilities instead.
Its a very good exercice, zooming in, like in a wiev finder, and then let your eye consentrate on positives and negatives, not the object itself. Enjoying getting back a little, to my roots!
 Red thread/5
I do LOVE making ATC´s. So I added a few more series to my collection.
Koi/2
I realize now, that I need to be shown how to scan from the scanner to my pc. Then all these would look great! Not dark from lack of camera light in this wet, wet grey summer!

Sketches.

After doing the Breakfast sketching prompt, I realize how long ago it´s been, since pen and paper was a naturally, daily exercise in my life. So in my handbag, on holiday, I made sure to carry a black ink pen, and inktence colors, and a small handmade :) journal.

This sketch was done in Anna´s house, waiting in que for the shower room :) Basil and sweet pea´s. Loved the simplicity and lightness, and wanted to save the impression for a future watercolour painting.
This sketch was made this morning. Again, very quick, black pen and watercolour. Inspiration for a Postcard Swap over at Milliande.ning. And for the new group "Raw Sketchbook Studio", also at Milliandes.
I forgot how good it is to "loosen the wrist" sketching feels :)

Happy Campers - north & south of the border.

This year, "TimeOut" has had a break from touring and trekking, due to work! But, we as a family went North and South of the Scottish Border, camping at Tyndrum and Oban and Traquair House Art Festival.

Drives done, tents are up, put the kettle on......ahhhhhh!
Bliss. And please notice the weather! Sunshine :-)
This is the life. Too long since me and my tent were last out together.....
Is this the famous generation-gap? Lovely spot, and for all of you, who have joined me over the years, up and down the WHW, will notice.....
..that the track is just across the river! So funny to be on "the other side". Yes, this is the last bit of the Crianlarich to Tyndrum WHW stretch.
So we just HAD to back-track the trail for fun, and to enjoy the glorious weather.
Oban, where we were so lucky to get a field to ourselfs, despite the 4000 orientering people, gathered in and around Oban for the week. The weather kept changing from clear visability to non! In seconds, very dramatic, and beautiful.
Wiev from tent, just before the rain sets in...
Coffee break on the road side. We found this lovely spot by a river, -Anna made scrambled eggs and Ali the hot drinks. Bring it on....
Breakfast amongst the wild flowers......   Life is good.
Wiev east towards Tyndrum and our way back home to Edinburgh. Goodbye highland, for now :-)
Traquair House Art Festival. Anna volunteered at the "Edinburgh Printers" workshop for the weekend.
Came across this teepee, We all want one! (And they can throw the guy in as well!)
 Piece of Art.
I attended the printers workshop, as it rained, rained, rained.......non stop, -and made this Dragon Fly etching.
Got back to Edinburgh, and put colour on two of the prints. So apart from camping, enjoying the highland as ever, enjoying beeing with the ones I love, it also included a few little pieces of art. Perfect holiday.
